Hit And Run Leaves 1 Dead, Later Causes 1 Shooting Injury

Sometimes, drivers are dangerous when they're on the roads. They may intentionally flee if they cause an accident, leaving victims behind with injuries and struggling to survive.

That's what happened in a case out of Hartford. A man had fled after crashing his stolen pickup truck and killing a 22-year-old woman in the collision. The 25-year-old man had been speeding on Zion Street when he hit a Toyota Corolla, fatally injuring one. He admitted to using cocaine prior to the crash and had also been drinking beforehand.

The man was on probation at the time of the crash and has admitted to violating the terms of probation. He pleaded guilty to second-degree manslaughter and for not stopping at the scene of the crash. Today, he faces up to 10 years in prison and 10 years of specialized parole thanks to a plea agreement.

Not long after the crash, the driver and his passenger had a fight. He then shot and injured the man, who had turned in the driver to the authorities. He survived the incident and was able to help police identify the driver.

Hit-and-run crashes are devastating for those who are hurt. Sometimes, they go without much-needed assistance while waiting for someone to call 911 for help. In worst-case scenarios, those who are involved in a hit-and-run crash die as a result of the at-fault driver leaving and not rendering aid.

If you're hurt or lose a loved one, you have the right to hold the at-fault driver responsible. You can make a claim to seek fair compensation.
