Teen who caused hit-and-run death to face trial

If you have followed the news of a teen accused of a fatal hit-and-run collision in Hartford, an update was released on Feb. 5. The teen's trial is coming up soon, during which he will be facing charges for the hit-and-run collision, which resulted in the victim suffering double amputations before her eventual death.

The original story tells how the teen took the lives of two people, one of which was killed when the teen shot them. The other was the victim of the hit-and-run crash.

The July 2017 incident took place when the teen, now 19, stole a Toyota Highlander and lost control. Losing control of the vehicle resulted in it colliding with a 56-year-old woman, who was run over. One of her legs was ripped off during the incident. The other had to be amputated during the next week, while she struggled to survive in St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center. Unfortunately, she died from her injuries on July 29, 2017.

One warrant against the teen indicates that he is a member of the "Ave" gang, which was attempting to target members of the "Gs" when both the hit-and-run and murder took place.

Situations like this one are hard for everyone. Two people lost their lives, one in a murder and one in a hit-and-run crash. Those who are involved in situations like this, as well as their families, deserve a chance to seek the justice they desire and should get. One person's actions can change other people's lives forever, and that is something they should be responsible for.
