Man charged for death in Hartford crash

A car crash changes lives, which is why it's so important for drivers to be safe behind the wheel. When people don't drive safely, there is a high risk of a serious or fatal collision.

That's what happened in this case involving a man from Hartford. He now faces charges in relation to the crash.

According to the July 18 report, the man, a convicted felon, had been driving while intoxicated at a North End intersection. It was there that he went through a red light, failing to yield to the other vehicles. He spurred a four-car crash, leaving one woman dead and her son injured.

The man was charged with assault and manslaughter following the collision. He, only 24 years old, also faces second-degree manslaughter charges along with first-degree assault, first-degree reckless endangerment, operating while under the influence and a collection of other charges.

The report states that the man had been driving on a suspended license, and this wasn't the first time he'd been in trouble that night. He was arrested on drug and gun charges, as well, which do not sit well with past convictions of drug possession and having a gun without a permit.

The crash resulted in the death of a 32-year-old mother and injured her 12-year-old child. One other motorist involved in the crash was also hurt.

Crashes like this one are completely avoidable, which makes them all the more horrific. If you're hurt because of a driver's negligence, it's within your rights to do all you can to hold them accountable for their actions.
